At wheel.me, good design is more than just visual appeal — it’s what makes complex technology feel simple, intuitive, and human. One of the people behind this seamless experience is Carlos Mancha Meléndez, Product Development Engineer.
Carlos’s design journey began in Mexico City, continued through the creative heart of Milan, and led him to Oslo — where he now helps shape the future of robotics.
“When I moved from Milan to Oslo, my goal was clear,” Carlos says. “I wanted to work with state-of-the-art robotics, a field I’ve always been passionate about. Two and a half years later, I can say this journey has been both challenging and rewarding.”
As a Product Development Engineer, Carlos focuses on crafting the plastic components that make up our robots — from covers and shells to the details that house sensors, electronics, and moving parts.
“It’s not just about making something look good. My job is to balance aesthetics with functionality, usability, and technical precision,” he explains. “It’s like shaping the body that brings the robot’s soul to life.”
Carlos’s role has evolved over time — from designing smaller components to making key design decisions on full systems, including robots, charging stations, and add-ons.
“The most rewarding part is seeing a product go from an initial sketch to something that’s deployed at a customer site. You feel the impact of your work in a very real way.”
Beyond design, Carlos has expanded his knowledge into other disciplines, gaining a deeper understanding of how mechanics, electronics, and software come together in a finished product.
“Every project brings new lessons. Design is ultimately about creating smooth interactions between people and technology — and that’s what we’re doing here every day.”
Carlos’s blend of engineering precision and creative thinking is part of what makes wheel.me’s solutions not just functional, but intuitive and thoughtfully crafted.
